The most powerful intention in the world

“I Release and my Heart is at Peace”Welcome To Growing Younger

When I first heard these words, spoken as a centering thought at the beginning of a meditation by Deepak Chopra, I was caught by their rhythm and the fact that they slotted together so well.  I now realize that the strength of this little sentence lies in its construction.  The fact that it is so simple, and that the two ideas rhyme makes it so easy to remember and repeat.  (Do you, like me, often read or hear affirmations that you like and then promptly forget them?)

The more I think about my new little mantra the deeper I go. It’s uses are endless.

If it bubbles up when I am anxious I feel my shoulders relax, my breath exhale and my heart let go.  If it pops into my mind when I am getting irritated, my jaw softens, my eyes quieten and the irritation dissolves.  If I recall it when I’m trying to maintain control of a situation I feel my whole body take a breather and my mind settle down.

I release and my heart is at peace.

This is the yogic practice known as ‘aparigraha’  –  non-grasping, not being attached.  Doing our best in any situation and then letting go.

I guess it all boils down to trust in the end.  This is something the ego doesn’t like too much.  The ego wants to be in control, be the one to make the decisions and carry them through.  The ego pushes and fights, grabs on and holds tight, and keeps trying until exhaustion sets in.

So when I say to myself ‘I release’ what I’m really saying is ‘I trust’.  ‘I trust that I have done what I can and whatever the outcome I accept it as the only possible outcome. The one that is always for my highest good – whether I can see it at the time or not.’

When I say ‘I release and my heart is at peace’ and I truly embody the mantra,  I realize that all my desires melt away.  When I release that wanting all that is left is peace.  Just as when I release guilt or anger or the desire for revenge or any other negative thought or feeling, what is left is peace.

‘I release and my heart is at peace.’  Try it today.  Feel how your whole body enjoys it.  Feel how your whole mind loves it.  Watch your world change.

  1. Sue,

That sits so well in my soul. Love your new website. Namaste, Jo

    • Thanks Jo. And keep on remembering. Practice practice practice – even if that the only yoga ‘practice’ that you do at some stages in life.

  2. I’ve been surfing on-line more than 3 hours these days, yet I never discovered any attention-grabbing article
like yours. It is beautiful worth sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers
made good content as you did, the internet will likely be much more helpful than ever before.

  3. Greetings! Very helpful advice within this post! It’s the little changes which
will make the largest changes. Thanks a lot for sharing!

  4. Hi there, I enjoy reading through your post. I wanted to write a little
    comment to support you.

  5. I drop a comment when I appreciate a article on a blog or
I have somethhing to add to the discussion. Usually it
is caused by the fire displayed in the article I looked at.
And on this post The most powerful intention in the world — Growing Younger.
I was excited enough to leave a thought 😉 I actually do havve 2 questions for you if you do not mind.
Is it only me or does it look like like some of the remarks come across like written by brain dead visitors?
😛 And, if you are writing on other online social sites, I’d
like to follow you. Would you list every one of your community sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

    • Actually sometimes it’s hard to decide when comments come in if they are real people or some sort of spam robot or something….. I’m not too technically minded so I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt 🙂 But anyone who writes on line loves to know that some one out there is reading what they say so comments are usually welcomed. I do have all the above on line profiles but I’m pretty lazy about doing much with them…….
